DofE Expeditions

DofE Gold Expeditions

Our Gold expedition expertise is hard to match – Over 12 years and more than 1000 successful gold expedition groups.

We make our experience and local knowledge count.

Gold expeditions are available in the wild, remote terrain of the Cambrian Mountains and Elan Valley in Mid Wales, quieter areas within Y Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons), as well as the rugged Rhinogydd Mountains in Southern Eryri (Snowdonia)

For a truly memorable Gold Assessment, we offer the opportunity to walk across the Cambrian Mountains, finishing at the sea.
We can even add in Hostel stay, dinner and presentations to complete DofE expedition journey in style.

frequently asked questions

What is the minimum number for Gold?
The minimum number for a Gold group package including the training weekend is 10-12 participants.
Smaller numbers can be accommodated through other flexible options, including our Open Gold expeditions.
Can you organise transport?
We can provide several flexible transport options, many of which are taken up by current groups. We have a couple of local coach companies who provide excellent service and value.
In addition, we can support public transport as most of our expedition bases have train stations nearby.
What equipment do you provide?
We provide all the group equipment. This includes high quality tents, stoves, fuel, maps compasses and emergency equipment.
We even have our own specialised maps for some areas.
We expect high standards at Gold? Can you match this?
Our training, practice and assessments at Gold meet all the required conditions, but go beyond this in terms of the level of responsibility teams undertake.
We pride ourselves on a pure, wild experience, supporting youngsters to achieve by their own efforts.

We have one School who had run their own enthusiastically supported Gold expeditions for over 50 years, with a vast amount of experience and quality standards still retained. Our aim was to build on their legacy, but make subtle improvements.
We achieved this, matched the students expectations, those of the leaders and have made further improvements since.
